AI, Prayer, and Jolts: Programming Our Perceptions
"Who are we but the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves, and believe?" - Scott Turow
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a common part of our lives, from GPS systems to Fitbits to editing software. ChatGPT, a language model, is now gaining visibility and personal utility, raising questions about its potential dangers.
But rather than debating the pros and cons of AI, let's consider how a form of artificial intelligence has always been with us: our personal programming of perceptions. In other words, AI has been shaping our lives through our subconscious.
AI and our subconscious perceptions share similarities:
- Neither can discern between right or wrong.
- Both learn from the worldview and reproduce information in a continuous loop.
- Neither understands humor or sarcasm.
- Both treat what we say as truth.
So when we tell ourselves negative things, our personal AI or subconscious reproduces more negativity.
PRAYERS AS PROMPTS
To change this pattern, we can become observers rather than programmers by reframing our self-talk. Instead of reinforcing problems in our prayers, we can focus on the desired outcome. Belief isn't necessary for success; we just need to remove preconceived ideas.
Gratitude can help with this process, as expressing gratitude programs our minds to focus on the positive. Acknowledging a higher power can also help us erase false programming and reveal our true selves.
JOLTS AS GIFTS
Unexpected events, like storms that disrupt our lives, can serve as jolts that force us to see life differently and reset our programming. These jolts can reveal what is important to us and what we may have been taking for granted.
Life's storms will always come, but it's up to us to decide whether we'll act on the insights we gain or ignore them. Jolts offer the opportunity to reset our perceptions and improve our lives.
Proper prayer, action, and expectation can help us reset our perceptions. As with ChatGPT, what we feed our minds matters. Focusing on the good, beautiful, and pure allows us to access infinite intelligence and our true spiritual nature.
As George Sanders wrote, "The instant we wake the story begins... And just like that, with our thoughts, the world gets made. Or, anyway, a world gets made."
