Everyone gets stuck once in a while.
But there are different forms of stuck.
My least favorite form of being stuck is feeling that I don’t want to do anything, even when I have an endless list of things to do.
Things I keep doing only out of habit. But it’s not because I want to.
Being stuck in not wanting to do anything,—sucks.
Have you ever felt that way?
But I know a way out of that rut. And, as always, nature points the way.
Have you noticed how much everyone loves the seasons of change?
Spring bursts with bright colors and more shades of green than we can count. Every day brings new growth.
Fall sweeps in with its oranges, yellows, rusts, and reds. Colors are everywhere, from the sky to the ground.
Fall flowers proudly sway in the wind. Trees take turns wearing brilliantly blazing colors and then dropping them, revealing the beauty beneath them.
Seasons of change. One of growth, one of letting go.
But what about seasons of change within us?
I don’t think we like them as much.
Most of us love the spring season of change when everything that was working below the surface pops up to bloom. We enjoy this display of abundance.
But what about the fall season of change? Do we enjoy letting go and revealing what lies beneath?
We resist change when we believe that we are humans living in a world where what we do means more than what we are and how we live.
No wonder it's easy to get stuck.
Stuck at doing too much. Stuck at doing too little. Stuck in judgment, worry, or fear.
We get stuck in believing that what appears as us is us.
There is a way to get out of all versions of stuckness.
Stop thinking like a human.
Nature constantly reminds us that everything expresses a deeper, more comprehensive, fuller, and more intelligent life than what appears on the surface.
Living is not about how many people know who we are, but as Seth Godin says, it’s about living a life that means if we don’t show up, we will be missed.
If we don’t express ourselves, will that expression be missed?
Let go of the world’s expectations of what your expression should look like.
Embrace your seasons of change.
They are evidence of the fuller multiple dimensions that make up all life.
When we stop thinking like humans, it won’t matter if our human self doesn’t want to do something.
And it won’t be habits that keep us going.
We will be unstuck because the belief of being human has moved out of the way, and the truth of who we are has embraced the seasons of change, whichever one it might be that day.
