Responding to Tragedy with Grace
When devastating news reaches us, our hearts respond naturally with sorrow, compassion, and a desire to help—all beautiful expressions of All-Good flowing through us.
Yet, notice what happens when we react instead with terror, fear, retaliation, or revenge. Haven't we, in that moment, stepped away from All-Good?
We've unknowingly entered territory claimed by what appears as evil, becoming instruments of the very energy we wish to counter.
As challenging as it may be to recognize, we simply cannot go there.
Not shouldn't.
Cannot.
The Temptation of Retaliation
The temptation pulls strongly at us.
We feel compelled to go after those responsible to prevent others from causing similar harm. But what if, in reacting this way, we become mirrors of what we oppose?
Yes, we can thoughtfully address what happened.
Yes, we can take wise steps to prevent recurrence.
But haven't we observed that these events are almost guaranteed to repeat as long as enough people respond with the same reaction that fueled the original tragedy?
When we step outside of All-Good, haven't we already surrendered the very ground we're trying to defend?
What might happen if, instead of joining an army of revenge, we consciously joined the Legion of Angels in healing—and ultimately eliminating—the belief in evil and duality?
Beginning the Inner Transformation
This transformation begins within our own thinking. Either we trust in the omnipresence of All Good, of only Good, of one Loving Intelligence, or we don't.
What do you think?
Observing our reactions can help us discover our true beliefs. Do we respond with healing love or with hate, fear, and revenge?
When we notice the opposite of All-Good arising within our thoughts and reactions, that's precisely where our real work begins. Within our own consciousness, we gently but firmly confront every idea suggesting something exists outside of All-Good.
When tempted to join the crowd that becomes a mob of retaliation, we pause.
We choose differently.
Standing with the Legion of Angels
Instead, we stand united with the Legion of Angels For All-Good, challenging the belief—the illusion—that evil possesses any genuine power or substance.
We recognize that Life is eternal.
There can be sorrow, and there is compassion, but death itself has no final word.
Have you considered how dwelling in All-Good allows us to experience Life's continuity and the Grace that sustains each of us?
To personally experience how Life continues—to sense the presence of those who have entered a different perception of Life than our own—we must remain anchored in All-Good.
This connection cannot happen within a dualistic world belief of competing good and evil.
This understanding can give us the courage to withstand the temptation of retaliation and condemnation.
"The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace." - Gandhi
Choosing Our Reality
Remember what I've shared so often: "What you perceive to be reality magnifies.™"
This means each of us chooses which reality we wish to cultivate. Since what we perceive as reality becomes the reality we experience, why not choose the Greater Reality of All-Good—the Reality of Infinite Grace?
Within Infinite Grace, we discover Life's completeness and find healing from the temptation to abandon this state and act from dualism.
Some may dismiss this as naive. It isn't.
It represents the only genuine answer—the most challenging answer.
It's the decision we all eventually must make: to resist the siren call of revenge and retaliation.
Living in Infinite Grace
What if we became more attentive to our words and comments? What if we noticed whether we're encouraging Grace or terror?
We can choose to embody and channel only All-Good.
The results will reflect All-Good's omnipresence, ultimately eliminating anything unlike good from every life, not just ours.
And isn’t that what each of us desires? It’s possible. And it begins with us.
"To attain peace, first we must acquire greater mastery over ourselves. We secure then an atmosphere of perfect peace, calm and goodwill that protects and fortifies ourselves and blesses others around us." - Gandhi
