In one of his posts, my long-time friend Bert Carson reminded me why I sometimes run. Well, Bert runs.
I used to jog so slowly that people who were walking passed me by. Now, I walk and jog a few steps.
Still, what happens when Bert runs and I walk/jog turns out to be the same.
We collect ideas.
Sometimes, these ideas fly in one at a time, and I collect them like little pearls, recording them into my phone so I don’t forget them.
Other times, I have long discussions with myself that can turn into a blog or part of a book I’m writing.
Sometimes, after walking, I sit down and write down my thoughts. Then, days later, when I have a blog to write, I discover I had already written it and didn’t remember doing it.
Gratitude fills my heart when that happens. Provision demonstrated.
However, not only words happen. So do pictures, ideas, and feelings.
Often, it is an idea of something to do, talk about, share, or an answer to something I have been pondering.
I call these messages Angel Ideas.
Angel Ideas filter in through our open perceptions, sometimes arriving in big waves, sometimes flying in like the wind, and sometimes dripping, drop by drop.
Angel Ideas are messages from the infinite Intelligence to us all—guiding, creating, and protecting.
We don’t have to run or jog to hear them. They are always present and timely.
But we do have to shop for them.
Imagine walking into an Angel Idea supermarket.
Rows upon rows of Angel Ideas are stacked perfectly, reaching far out into the horizon, rising into the clouds, and falling deep into the earth.
Each is labeled, each with expiration dates, and each is waiting for us to enter the store and buy it.
So, how do we enter the Angel Idea supermarket? What currency do we use to buy them?
We enter through willingness, and we purchase with the currency of yielding.
So that I don’t forget to walk for Angel Ideas, I schedule it in and then try to keep my promise to do it.
However, once I get into the habit of knowing I am shopping for Angel Ideas, it becomes easier to step outside and begin.
Sometimes, I have to drag myself for the first few blocks, and other times, it’s a joy from the start.
And if I am willing to yield, let go of what I think I want, and listen instead, those Angel Ideas start moving into my shopping cart without any other effort.
However, we can be anywhere, doing anything, and still be shopping for Angel Ideas.
All that is required is to listen to them and accept their arrival.
Something like walking works because it keeps the human mind busy doing something else and forgets to guard the door against the direct line to the Divine.
However, we can practice being willing and yielding, no matter what we are doing.
Sometimes, Angel Ideas arrive one at a time. They appear like a string of beads, one after another.
Sometimes, they drop into an unsuspecting consciousness like an idea bomb, fully formed ideas from beginning to end.
Sometimes, they are aggressive.
Many a morning, an Angel Idea has pounced on my bed in the wee morning hours and demanded I get up and use it. Usually, it is something that needs to be written.
Other times, we get fleeting glimpses of them as they hide like phantoms in the forest. We see them out of the corner of our eyes and feel them in the recesses of our thoughts, but nothing tempts us to come out until we are fully ready for them.
Aggressive or coy, what they have in common is that they result in action.
Like the supermarket, we purchase items, go home, and use them. Otherwise, they are valueless.
In the case of Angel Ideas, they seem to know when we have not used the ones we purchased the last time we visited, and so perhaps feeling unappreciated, fewer of them volunteer to go home with us.
The opposite is also true.
The more we use them, the more Angel Ideas appear in our daily supply.
Angel Ideas are constantly accumulating, just waiting for us to be willing to hear them, yield to how we think things should be, and follow their directions.
This is much easier than making things work out independently with limited resources.
One last very important fact about Angel Ideas.
They are not the voice that derides, criticizes, berates, condemns, or judges.
Angel Ideas require action, expand lives, and ask more of us than we might think we can accomplish, but they are always supportive and kind while leading us to a greater understanding of our divine, true spiritual nature.
Angel Ideas, both aggressive and coy, brought this message to you. Since they insist on getting the final word in, they say, “Thanks for listening, and happy shopping!”
