At age twenty-six, after my three children were born, I decided to finish college to begin to build a life for myself.
Although I already had two years of college, most of my credits didn’t transfer, so I filled in the gaps for the next two years at a community college.
Because of my growing love for translating spiritual ideas into daily practical use, I applied and was accepted to UCLA as a theology major.
However, I was also taking and teaching daily dance lessons.
One day, I realized that even though I would take full credits at school, working part-time, and had children to care for, I was unwilling to give up my daily dancing.
Pondering how I was going to dance and still go to school, I heard the “Since You Are Going To Do It Anyway” Angel Idea of switching my major to dance, my original choice years before, while continuing to study spirituality on my own.
Although it was complicated and not logical in the worldview, I made the switch.
I worked my way through the paperwork, and auditions, and agreed to the extra years required since I had few university credits in dance.
Even when people questioned my decision, my heart helped me stick with the plan. Although the following years were difficult in many ways, I never regretted a minute of it.
Actually, the hard work of the next four years provided the groundwork for my growing understanding of how to put into practice the practicality of spirituality.
A year later, I heard the “Since You Are Going To Do It Anyway” Angel Idea of combining my love for healing and dance and switched my major to dance therapy.
Within a few months, I knew that was not my path, so I switched back to choreography.
However, by following the Angel Idea, I had unknowingly saved myself a year of school because it allowed my instructors to move me a year forward in dance classes.
For me, this was another example of the graceful results of listening to and following Angel Ideas.
While at UCLA, I formed a dance company and realized I needed to incorporate it.
Without money, I had no idea how I would hire someone to do it. Then I heard the “Since You Are Going To Do It Anyway” Angel Idea that I could do it myself as a project in another class, which I did.
The added bonus was that some of my teachers used my “how-to” paper to incorporate their own companies, so I was fulfilling another life intent: sharing what I had learned.
Angel Ideas are those quiet ideas that spring from within, not from without.
They demand that we live our lives more actively and give up what is not ours to do.
They usually ask more of us than we believe we can do.
However, when we give up on why we can’t do it, we will always see that provisions have already been laid along the path for us.
Angel Ideas are never just spiritual Truths that leave us to wait passively for results.
Although they begin in Truth, they are also always a call to action, which becomes the proof of spirituality's practicality.
Sometimes, we think that the things we are doing are distractions or delays that keep us from doing what we should be doing, but what if they aren’t?
What if they are ideas begging to be merged and melded into what we are already doing? In fact, aren’t all progressive ideas a merger of what initially appeared as disparate ingredients?
I heard the world-famous chef Bobby Flay say, “I am a cook and a businessman.” He has combined both of these into the perfect life for him.
The divine intelligence that is the creative foundation of the universe is seen in our expression of our unique purpose and gifts.
This is not multitasking, doing two different things at once, but doing one thing at a time by merging two ideas into one grand design.
Have you ever thought that you are good at too many things or are distracted too often by a desire to do something else? Of course you have!
And since you are going to do it anyway, instead of lamenting it, expect to hear the “Since You Are Going To Do It Anyway” Angel Idea, which will lead you to merge those ideas into your own beautiful and abundant life dance.
